Amritsar, the temple twice

The Golden Temple at opening and again for the night ceremony. Jallianwala is next door and short. Wagah is a separate choice.

Before you go. If you go to Wagah, leave early. It is a crowd, not a quiet afternoon.

Overview

Langar is free. Cover your head, leave your shoes, and do not treat the queue as a photo stop.

Day 1 — Temple at dawn
In before the tour groups. Walk the parikrama. Eat in the langar.
Day 2 — Jallianwala, then night
The garden takes less than an hour. Back to the complex after dark for the palki.

Stay

A hotel within walking distance of the complex, so you are not in a taxi at 5am. About ₹2,200.

Move

One shared seat in. Walk after that. Leave a buffer on the day you go home.
