Shillong, then the stairs to the bridge

Police Bazaar as the bed. The double-decker root bridge is a hike down and back up, not a viewpoint you drive to.

Overview

Nongriat is thousands of steps. Start early and carry water. Dawki is clearest in the dry months.

Day 1 — Shillong
Arrive and walk Police Bazaar. Nothing ambitious.
Day 2 — Down to Nongriat
Start early. The bridge, a swim if the pool is calm, and back up before dark.
Day 3 — A quiet day
Ward's Lake or a café. Legs will ask for it.
Day 4 — Dawki or out
The river only if yesterday was not the stairs. Otherwise the bus.

Stay

A simple hotel in Police Bazaar for all four nights. About ₹1,800.

Move

One shared seat in. Walk after that. Leave a buffer on the day you go home.
